“At the heart of developing, sustainable and a safe city that offers high quality services are the citizens. People are at the center of innovation and change, and that is a message that is at the heart of this book,” said Cotton.

Smart Tampere is a strategic development program for years 2017-2021 that aims to create digital services that make life easier, increase well being and safety, and enhance fluent mobility. It consists of two parts: the Digitalization Program and the Ecosystem Program. The Digitalization Program works towards making everyday life easier in Tampere by providing new, handy, and accessible digital services. The goal is to be able to offer all municipal services as primary digital by 2025. The Ecosystem Program is built under seven smart themes: mobility, health, industry, government & citizen, infrastructure, buildings and education.
